OFFER DESCRIPTION

Work plan: The project aims to evaluate the capacity of several fluorinated ionic liquids for the extraction of fluorinated compounds (acids or gases) present in the environment. The selected grantee will have the possibility to develop an innovative research work, involving a multidisciplinary approach, in the development of fluorinated ionic liquids with high extraction capacity of fluorinated acids, with the ultimate objective of reducing the contamination they generate.

Duration: The scholarship will last for 6 months, starting in July 2021. The scholarship contract may be renewed within the duration of the project.

Applications must be formalised by sending an application letter, accompanied by the following documents: curriculum vitae, letter of motivation, certificate of qualifications (documents proving the title of academic degree and diploma, or their recognition when they have been granted by foreign higher education institutions, may be dismissed at the application stage , being replaced by the candidate's declaration of honor according to his own draft, with verification of this condition only in the process of contractualization of the scholarship), and proof of enrollment in a course not conferring an academic degree integrated in an educational project of a Higher Education Institution.

Monthly maintenance allowance amount: The amount of the scholarship corresponds to 835,98 €, based on the stock chart of the exchanges awarded directly by FCT, I.P. in the country, and the payment is made monthly by bank transfer.

Eligibility criteria

Admission requirements: Will be considered graduates in Chemical Engineering, or related areas, enrolled ina non-academic degree course integrated in an educational project of a Higher Education Institution. The average must be equal to or greater than 14 values (bachelor's degree). The following requirements will also be valued: motivation for research, good working capacity, proven laboratory experience in the area of separation/extraction of fluorinated compounds, synthesis and characterization of ionic liquids, as well as publications and/or scientific communications in the area of chemical engineering and process simulation (Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS), and knowledge of English languages. Documents proving the holder of an academic degree and diploma, or their recognition when they have been awarded by foreign higher education institutions, may be waived at the application stage and replaced by the candidate's declaration of honour in accordance with his own draft, and this condition is verified only in the process of contractualization of the scholarship.

 

Selection process

Selection methods: The selection methods to be used will be as follows: a curricular evaluation (grade 1 to 20) and, if necessary, the interview will take place, with the respective valuation of: laboratory experience (grade 1 to 20, 50%); Average degree (grade from 1 to 20,25%); Publications and communications (note from 1 to 20, 15%); Motivation Letter (note from 1 to 20, 10%). The curricular evaluation will have a value of 100%, and if there is a need for a tiebreaker, the interview will be used, attributing 50% (grade 1 to 20) to the curricular evaluation and 50% (grade 1 to 20) to the interview.

Composition of the Selection Jury: Dr. Ana B. Pereiro, President of the Jury, Dr. João M.M. Araújo and Dr. José Paulo Mota as effective vowels and Dr. Paulo J. Castro and Dr. Nicole S.M. Vieira as alternate vowels.

Form of publicization/notification of results: The final results of the evaluation shall be notified, within 90 days of the deadline for the submission of applications, by e-mail, of the results proposed by the jury, having access to the minutes and the final ordination list. After notification, applicants will have 10 working days to comment on the draft decision, at a prior hearing of the persons concerned, in accordance with the Code of Administrative Procedure. The final decision will be made after the previous hearing period, again notified to all candidates by e-mail, and the same complaint shall be made within 15 working days (for the e-mail address used for the notification), or appeal, within 30 working days, addressed to the Board of DIRECTORS of NOVA.ID.FCT at the coord1@novaidfct.pt.
