OFFER DESCRIPTION

Professor Carme Rovira is looking a technician to help the group in computer and project tasks. The successful candidates will work on the ERC Synergy grant of Prof. Rovira, together with Prof. Gideon J. Davies (University of York) and Prof. Herman S. Overkleeft (University of Leiden).

The perspective researcher will have the opportunity to collaborate on a very exciting project CARBOCENTRE, which aims at developing novel activity-based probes and competitive inhibitors for carbohydrate-active enzymes of interest in biomedicine and biotechnology. She/he will be in care of managing the computer facilities of the group and help group members in supporting tasks. The successful candidate will join the dynamic research group of Prof. Rovira within the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry and the Department of Chemistry. He/she will work in a sophisticated HPC environment, will have access to systems and computational infrastructures, and will be involved in collaborations with experts in different areas.

The position is available from Sept 1st, 2021 for a duration of five years (the contract will be renewed on a yearly basis). The position will be based at the Chemistry Department of the UB in Barcelona, Spain.

Specific Requirements

At the time of recruitment by the host organisation, the candidates should have a MSc degree in Chemistry (preferably), Physics, Computational biology, Structural biology, Biochemistry or a related discipline. The date of the degree should be earlier than Sept 1st, 2021.
