OFFER DESCRIPTION

[Laboratory]
Laboratory for Developmental Epigenetics
RIKEN Center for Biosystems Dynamics Research
(Team Leader: Ichiro Hiratani)

[Research Field]
The Laboratory for Developmental Epigenetics is focusing on a new paradigm of epigenetics, the 3D genome organization and its regulatory mechanisms. In particular, we are interested in the developmental regulation of TADs (Topologically-associating domains) and A/B compartments, which are megabase-sized units of mammalian chromosomes.

In this call, we are looking for a talented researcher who will participate in RIKEN's Pioneering Project "Genome building from TADs" and actively conduct research on the organizing principles of the 3D genome structure, especially from the viewpoint of genome evolution. Please note that this position is a joint researcher with the Nonequilibrium Physics of Living Matter RIKEN Hakubi Research Team, RIKEN BDR (Team Leader: Kyogo Kawaguchi) We are looking for a highly motivated person who can act as a bridge between the two teams, discuss a wide range of topics from theory to experiment and carry out research autonomously.

Job description:
We are looking for individuals who are motivated to perform interspecies comparisons and detailed analyses of the 3D genome organization, with a focus on Hi-C data analysis, and to reveal the underlying principles of the 3D genome structure from the perspective of genome evolution. We are primarily interested in applicants with a background in genome evolution, bioinformatics, computational science, physics, or mathematics. Duties include analyses of chromatin-related data in general, including Hi-C and other epigenetics-related data and in-situ sequencing data, as well as theoretical modeling and numerical simulations based on the analyses. The environment also allows the applicant to plan new experiments and conduct them in collaboration with members of both research teams. We are looking forward to receiving applications from highly motivated individuals who are willing to take on new challenges, think flexibly outside the box, and provide new perspectives for our teams.

*Specifics will be determined based on the applicant's experience and expertise.
