Offer Description

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a non-profit research and educational institution with a strong scientific and technological orientation, emphasizing international collaborations and cross-disciplinary research and post graduate education. CyI, through its established research centers, addresses challenging issues that are important at both the regional and international levels. Many of its research activities are being carried out in partnership with leading institutions in the respective thematic areas. Within this context, CyI in cooperation with Advanced Partners Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, University of Helsinki and Commission for Atomic Energy – Laboratory for Sciences of the Climate and the Environment, established the “(EMME-CARE) Eastern Mediterranean Middle East – Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre of Excellence” under Horizon 2020 – TEAMING Grant no. 856612.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated individual to join the Institute at the position of Project Officer for the CARE-C Centre of Excellence.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Research and Innovation Support Operations (RISO) team and will contribute in the execution of project management related activities of CARE-C. The successful candidate will support the development, management and implementation of administrative and budgetary activities of research projects under the Departments/ Infrastructures of CARE-C. More specifically, the successful candidate will provide support to the management, monitoring and reporting of national (RIF, DG EPCD, DMRID etc.), EU and international funded projects (HE, LIFE+, etc.).  Additionally, the successful candidate will contribute in the communication with partners and stakeholders of the Centre-of-Excellence, as well as in grants and tenders’ proposal preparation.

The initial period of the appointment will be for a duration of 12-months with the possibility of renewal, depending on performance and availability of funds. An internationally competitive remuneration package will be offered, which is commensurate with the level of experience of the successful candidate.

 

Responsibilities/activities to be involved in:

  1. Support to research project oversight of RIF, EU and other national or international related projects
  2. Support to project administration/coordination (timesheets, progress & financial reporting, deliverables, communication with funding organizations)
  3. Support logistics for events, meetings and general needs of the Department/infrastructure
  4. Communicate with project partners and stakeholders and National/International Contact points on awarded projects.
  5. Participate in communication with funding agencies, the European Commission and the National Contact Points for receiving clarification on various aspects of proposal writing and the relevant regulations
  6. Support identification of funding opportunities
  7. Aid in the development and creation of proposals for research Grants and Services-Tenders

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor Degree in a relevant field such as Business or Project Management, Economic, Political or Social Sciences, European Studies or Environment-related sciences
  2. At least 1 year of previous experience in project management
  3. Excellent knowledge of the English and Greek languages both verbally and in writing.
  4. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail) and knowledge in internet search engines.
  5. Previous experience in monitoring and reporting of national and EU-funded projects
  6. High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Ability to adapt to a multicultural/multidisciplinary environment
  8. High level of organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in monitoring and reporting of RIF and/or EU-funded projects
  • Previous experience in a research/academic institution in a related field
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field
