announces
a competition for the position of an adjunct ( post-doc)
in project
(Reading) African Palimpsest. The dynamics of urban and rural communities of Numidian and Roman Mustis (AFRIPAL).
(NCN nr 2020/37/B/HS3/00348-OPUS 19)

Planned employment : temporary contract from April 2023 till of February 2024
Competition requirements:
The successful candidate will fill the requirements explicated of the Higher Education Law (Law Journal 2022, item 574), and will have the following:
- PhD degree in archaeology on the study of Roman urbanism in North Africa
- experience in conducting archaeological fieldwork in North Africa
- have a research interest in Roman towns in North Africa supported by publications
- command of the Polish language, both spoken and written;
- command of the English language at a level necessary for the conduct of independent research work;
- basic familiarity with MS Office programs and graphics, enabling the creation of text and graphics documents.
- Key responsibilities include:
- carrying out field research as part of the AFRIPAL grant project and producing written reports based on this research;
- conducting research in the study of the dynamics of urban and rural hinterland development in Mustis during the Roman period;
- coordinating research carried out by other members of the research team, in close consultation with the Project Director;
- dissemination of acquired knowledge through participation in conferences and publication of articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals;
- participation in the editing of a scientific monograph summarising the AFRIPAL project, in close cooperation with the Project Director .

The results of the competition will be announced by 20.03.2023. It is the first stage of the employment process for academic teachers set down in the UW Statute; a positive result is essential to proceed further.
