In cooperation between the University of Cologne and the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences and Arts, an Academy Assistant Professorship (W1) Digital Humanities with special consideration of digital editions without tenure track is available at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Cologne as of 01.10.2023.
YOUR TASKS
The position holder develops the research field of digital editions in the context of the Digital Humanities at the University of Cologne in exchange with existing research focuses in the field of text editions as well as in close cooperation with the edition projects within the framework of the Academies‘ Programme. Requirements therefore include knowledge and expertise in text editing. Experience in working on international research projects is desirable. The professorship is also associated with the further development of the study programmes of the Institute for Digital Humanities (IDH) as well as collaboration within the Task Area Editions of the NFDI. Active participation in current debates and research initiatives in the sense of the public humanities is expected. Collaboration within the Cologne Center for eHumanities of the Faculty of Humanities is a prerequisite, and the conception of relevant research projects is expected.
The systematic expansion of national and international scientific cooperation and researchbased collaboration with international partners is desirable.
YOUR PROFILE
We are looking for a person with experience and excellent expertise in the field of text editions and especially digital editions. A broad profile of methods and models is desirable, as well as a willingness to engage with new research questions and problems (such as large text corpora, non-Latin script, etc.). We are looking for a personality who can build a bridge in research and teaching between the already existing research foci and new questions, both theoretically-conceptually and practically-applied. ration in the areaof digital editions are desirable.
Experience in the area of thirdparty funding acquisition and successful cooperation in the area of digital editions are desirable.

The position (of a Juniorprofessorin / Juniorprofessor) is available as of 01.10.2023. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North
Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). The teaching load comprises 2-3 semester hours per week.
