The Department of Film, Theater, Media and Culture Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Philology invites applications for the position of a
Junior Professor of Film Studies with a Special Focus on Networked Moving Image Cultures
Starting Date: October 1, 2021.Salary Grade W 1 LBesG | Civil Servant with a Fixed-Term Contract
Tasks and Expectations:
▪ The future position holder will prospectively represent the discipline of film studies in research and teaching in its entire breadth. Applicants must provide proof of expertise in the field of networked moving image cultures. We are looking for a researcher with an outstanding doctorate in film or media studies who is committed to teaching, implementing innovative research projects, and assuming responsibility in academic self-administration.
▪ Willingness to get involved in interdisciplinary cooperation with other fields of research and teaching within the department and the faculty as well as university-wide research networks is considered a prerequisite.
▪ The professor is expected to supervise bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral theses.
▪ The teaching language in the department is German. If the applicant’s native language is not German, they should provide proof of at least level B2 of the CEFR and be able to teach courses in German within two years. The ability and willingness to teach in English is also appreciated
