OFFER DESCRIPTION
We invite applications for up to two Postdoctoral Research Associates to work with Professors János Pach, Gábor Tardos, and Géza Tóth on an exciting ERC-funded project "From Geometry to Combinatorics and Back: Escaping the Curse of Dimensionality (GeoSpace)". These are full time positions, and the post-holders will be based at the Alfréd Rényi Mathematical Institute, Budapest.
The successful candidates will be part of a research group with the responsibility for carrying out research in combinatorics, discrete & computational geometry. Relevant areas of expertise to the project include extremal and probabilistic combinatorics, combinatorial and some algebraic geometry, and related areas. They will manage their own academic research and administrative activities, write up their results for publication, present papers at conferences, contribute ideas for new research projects and represent the research group at meetings.
Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in mathematics or a related discipline. They will possess sufficient relevant specialist knowledge to work within the established research programme and have excellent communication skills, alongside the ability to manage their own academic research and associated activities.
Please direct enquiries and applications to János Pach (email: pach@cims.nyu.edu).
