Job description: Scientific services in research within a DFG project, especially the ultimate elucidation of the water splitting mechanism in photosynthesis, development of new protocols for crystallization of native and modified photosystem II (PSII), participation in femtosecond X-ray laser measurements on photosystem microcrystals at LCLS (Stanford/USA) as well as in neutron diffraction measurements on macrocrystals at Oak Ridge National Labs (ORNL/USA), publication of results; tasks for own scientific qualification (PhD)
Requirements: Completed university degree in Biophysics (M.Sc.); basic knowledge and experience in biochemical and biophysical working methods such as the purification of proteins by chromatographic methods as well as knowledge of the functional characterization of proteins by spectroscopic methods (e.g., Dynamic Light Scattering) are required; basic knowledge in crystallization of proteins and especially in crystallography is needed; very good English skills
