Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for a full-time fixed term position as a Postdoctoral Researcher with the Irish Centre or Applied Patient Safety and Simulations (ICAPSS) in the School of Medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway.
This position is available from 1st July for one year (12 months) period.
Job Description:
The purpose of this position is to support a range of patient safety and healthcare simulation research projects being carried out at ICAPSS. As such, the role will require research design, data collection, data analysis, writing up the findings, and supervising postgraduate students. The successful candidate will also evaluate the impact of the Spark Innovation Programme. This is an initiative for junior doctors to encourage them to develop and implement ideas on how to improve the health service.
Duties:
The successful candidate will be responsible for: designing, implementing, and conducting research on patient safety and healthcare simulation, and; leading an evaluation of the impact of the Spark Innovation Programme to encourage healthcare innovation by junior doctors.
Qualifications/Skills required:
Essential Requirements:
- PhD (or close to completion) in Psychology, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience of quantitative data collection and analysis
- Demonstrated experience of qualitative data collection and analysis
- Evidence of research publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Evidence of excellent communication and organizational skills
- Evidence of conducting Health Services Research
Desirable Requirements:
- Demonstrated experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Previous experience in healthcare simulation research
- Previous experience in evaluating programme effectiveness
Salary: €38,631 to €44,659 per annum pro rata for shorter and/or part-time contracts (public sector pay policy rules pertaining to new entrants will apply).
Start date: Position is available from 1st July 2021
