Job description:

PostDoc position "abrupt changes and extremes in The Eurasian climate system as a reaction on the oscillation of the arctic sea ice over time" (m/f/d)

Background
We examine the climate relationship between the Arctic and the mid- latitudes, focusing on the abrupt changes and extremes in the Eurasian climate system in response to the temporal fluctuations of the Arctic sea ice. The requested project will establish up-to-date climate scenarios and database for the Arctic and Eurasian climates to understand the correlation between climate-driving processes of the high and mid-northern latitudes and their relation to global climate variability.

Tasks

  • climate modelling with AWI-ESM and data analysescooperation with international partners in China
  • examine “Abrupt climate shifts and extremes over Eurasia in response to Arctic sea ice change”

Requirements

  • PhD in climate science or related field
  • experience in modelling and data analyses
  • documentation of results in international reviewed journals.

 Desirable knowledge/skills

  • knowledge in AWI-ESM model development and applications, as well as statistical data analyses.
