The Institute of Applied Mechanics at Graz University of Technology offers a full-time PhD position within an FFG project for 3 years, 40 hours/week, starting from June 1, 2021.
We are looking for motivated and dedicated candidates interested in modeling and/or numerical simulation of challenging engineering problems. We are a motivated team with the ambition to conduct innovative interdisciplinary research. This particular project focuses on the interaction of computer-aided geometric design and the numerical simulation of electrical components.
Completed master's degree in the field of engineering, computer science, software development, applied mathematics, or similar.
Very good knowledge of numerical methods and computer-aided geometric design, good programming skills (e.g., C++ or C#), and excellent English language skills.
The doctoral candidate works on the project "Virtual Prototyping of Electrical Components using geometry-based Analysis", which is conducted in collaboration with the Institute for Structural Analysis and the industrial partners TailSit and GIPRO. The work shall lead to a doctorate and includes the following tasks:
- Learning of computer-aided geometric design (CAGD) and the STEP standard
- Programming of a Rhino plugin for analysis-suitable geometry processing
- Studies on the robustness of the developed algorithm
- Numerical simulation of electrostatic problems and their validation
Job Grading “B1“ according tot he collective bargaining agreement of universities; Monthly minimum salary € 2.971,50 gross (14x per year); Previous experience will be taken into account on the basis oft he collecting bargaining agreement.
