Researcher in Bioinformatics

The Center of Plant Systems Biology and Biotechnology (CPSBB) in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is looking for Researchers in Bioinformatics who can engage in ongoing projects related to statistical genetics and systems biology, such as:

• Genome-wide association study of morphometric and colorimetric traits;
• Genomic selection/prediction of yield-related traits;
• Construct the biological interaction networks;
• Dissect the genetic basis using genome-scale metabolite network and constraint-based modelling.

CPSBB is a newly established research center in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, with the financial help of the Horizon 2020 project PlantaSYST, the Bulgarian Government, and Plovdiv Municipality. CPSBBs mission is to position itself at the forefront of plant sciences in Bulgaria.

Plovdiv is one of the oldest cities in Europe, established in the 6th millennium BCE. Moreover, it is the industrial and academic center of Bulgaria. The city is rich in cultural life and entertainment for young people. The European Commission declared Plovdiv the European Capital of Culture for 2019.

Job Requirements:

• Background of biostatistics/bioinformatics and genetics/molecular biology or mathematics/statistics
• Knowledge of programming language (e.g. R, Matlab)
• Fluent English
• Experience in machine learning or network analysis
