The Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory (lab of Kenji Yamada) is carrying out research analysing the function of plant endomembrane systems such as the endoplasmic reticulum, vacuoles and peroxisomes. The laboratory is looking for two postdoctoral scientists to join a OPUS project entitled "Gene Regulatory Mechanism for the Mustard Oil Bomb Defence System of ER Bodies in Brassicaceae". Successful candidates will join a project that aims to understand detailed molecular aspects of a plant defense system based on glucosinolate-myrosinase system. The duration of the contract is six months, and can be extended for four years maximum, depend on the activity.
Key responsibilities include:
- Analysis of transcriptional regulation for ER body formation that is involved in glucosinolate-myrosinase defence system,
- Analysis of plant defence with establishing insect-plant or fungi-plant interaction assays,
- Identification of new genes for glucosinolate-myrosinase defence system,
- Cell biological and physiological analysis of newly identified factors in glucosinolate-myrosinase defence,
- Work collaboratively with other laboratory members as a team.

For the post of assistant researcher may apply persons who fulfil the requirements stated in Article 113, 116 (2) (4) of the Act of 20th July 2018 Law on higher education and science and meet the following qualification requirements:
- hold at least a master’s degree, engineering degree or an equivalent degree,
- prepared an outstanding master’s degree thesis confirmed by opinion of academic tutor or doctoral thesis confirmed by high grade,
- provide a positive opinion of the head of department/chair or academic tutor on the candidate’s suitability work in the post of academic teacher
The ideal candidate should:
1) have a master’s degree in molecular biology, plant biology or related discipline
2) have a strong experience in one of following research areas:
i) plant cell biology and plant molecular biology
ii) plant pathology and plant insect interaction
3) have good written and oral communication skills in English
4) have a strong research publications list or awards - would be an advantage
5) show a good level of independence, self-motivation and reliability

The position is a full-time postdoc position.
The salary is around 10000 PLN (~2200EUR, in gross-gross, will wave depend on the career).
