YOUR TASKS

The discipline of ‘Historical Theology’ is to be represented in its entire width in both research and teaching in all study programmes available at the Institute of Catholic Theology.

YOUR PROFILE

A special focus on the church history of modern times and contemporary church history is expected; a further focus on the cultural history of the church is desirable. Apart from outstanding achievements in research, you will have to have salient achievements in teaching as well.

We expect an international network of academic contacts, outstanding publications in high-ranked academic journals, collaboration with neighbouring disciplines within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and with the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Bonn. Experiences with raising third-party funds are desirable. A commitment to academic self-administration in all its facets and to the promotion of young scholars is an integral part of your professional duties.

OUR OFFER

The position is available at the earliest possible date. Formal requirements are detailed in Section 36 of the Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz – HG NRW). As a rule, the teaching load comprises nine semester hours per week (i.e., two hours per week is one 90-minute course per semester).

The University of Cologne is committed to equal opportunities and diversity. Women are especially encouraged to apply and will be considered preferentially in accordance with the Equal Opportunities Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesgleichstellungsgesetz – LGG NRW). We also expressly welcome applications from people with disabilities / special needs or of equal status.

Please submit your application via the University of Cologne’s Academic Job Portal (https://professorships.uni-koeln.de) no later than 22 April 2021.
