OFFER DESCRIPTION

In particular, you will be in charge of establishing the data inventory and the first material balances of the new system from the data available from the partners. You will have to discuss with partners from various backgrounds and participate in progress meetings and the drafting of deliverables.

As part of the IBIS project you will assess the environmental impacts of the new integrated system in collaboration with the different project partners. This assessment will be carried out using the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodology. You will compare the obtained results with the environmental impacts of the conventional system.

IBIS (Intelligent Battery Integrated System, https://www.ademe.fr/sites/default/files/assets/documents/ibis_intellige...) project aims to bring out a profound change in the way electric drive trains are designed. The technological innovation concerns the integration of the inverter, charger and converter functions in the energy storage battery.
By sharing the design of technological bricks between the electro-mobility and stationary fields, the IBIS project aims to increase the attractiveness of the electric vehicle by:
- Lowering its manufacturing and sales price
- Facilitating the emergence of an after-sales sector facilitating the second life of batteries within the stationary sector
- Contributing to the development of a robust and cost-optimized electrical network infrastructure

You will work at the Laboratory of Electrochemistry and Physical Chemistry of Materials and Interfaces (LEPMI, http://lepmi.grenoble-inp.fr/) located at the University Campus of Grenoble (Saint Martin d'Hères). However, some travels and short stays at the project partners are to be expected. LEPMI is an electrochemistry laboratory. The 80 permanent staff members and the hundred post-doctoral and doctoral students and trainees work on major themes associated with electrochemistry (kinetics, material transport mechanisms), materials (electronic and ionic conductors for electrochemical generators and photovoltaics, photosensors for photovoltaic cells) and electrochemical engineering.) The person recruited will be attached to the EIP (Interfacial electrochemistry and Processes) team of the laboratory. Within EIP team several projects related to recycling and LCA are currently carried-out.

Eligibility criteria

PhD in the field of industrial engineering (preferably), you are familiar with life cycle assessment methodology. Detailed knowledge of one of the LCA software (preferably Gabi) is mandatory. Knowledge of electronic systems and batteries would be a plus.
