OFFER DESCRIPTION
The EPC group (the lab of Heejae Kim) in the Department of Molecular Spectroscopy at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research is looking for a PhD candidate. The research group focuses on studying the mode-resolved electron phonon coupling and the ultrafast electronic and structural dynamics of condensed matter systems using various nonlinear terahertz (THz) spectroscopies. During the project, the student will gain significant knowledge in cutting edge nonlinear spectroscopy and condensed matter physics.
Candidates with a BSc and MSc in Physics or equivalent are encouraged to apply. Below are the requirements for the position:
1. Courses or practical knowledge in quantum mechanics and solid-state physics
2. Courses or practical knowledge in optics and spectroscopy
3. Strong knowledge of programming in Labview and Matlab
The applicants are requested to submit the documents including a motivation letter (1 page), C.V. (including a list of up to 3 potential references) and transcript (grade report) of your BSc and MSc degree via e-mail to Dr. Heejae Kim (kim@mpip-mainz.mpg.de).
Review of the applications will begin upon receipt and will continue until the position is filled.
