The Helmholtz Center Munich is a member of one of the leading research associations in Europe – the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers. Our laboratory (Research Unit in Functional Genomics of Mitochondria, headed by Dr. Fabiana Perocchi) is interested in characterizing mitochondrial signal transduction cascades that occur in response to physiological and pathophysiological stimuli (e.g. exercise and diet). We develop experimental and computational strategies to predict, test, and reverse the effects of genetic and chemical perturbations on mitochondrial metabolism. To this goal, we combine genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics approaches with traditional genetic, biochemical, and physiological techniques applied to mouse models, human cell lines and patient samples. The aim of the postdoc research project is to characterize the role of newly identified calcium-regulated proteins in mitochondrial signaling and metabolism.Postdoc - regulation of the mitochondrial calcium uniporter complex (f/m/x) 100561 close to full time Neuherberg near Munich Postdocs Your responsibilities - Study of the regulation of the mitochondrial calcium uniporter complex- Define the role of new interactors on MCU and bioenergetics- Characterize the MCU complex stoichiometry in mouse tissues- Train PhD students in calcium imaging- Writing of manuscriptsYour qualifications- Strong experimental skills in calcium imaging (mandatory)- Strong experimental skills in live imaging and immunofluorescence (mandatory)- Strong experimental skills in generating genetically modified cell lines through viral vectors (lentivirus, retrovirus, adenovirus; CRISPR-Cas9)- Strong experimental skills in mouse phenotyping, animal handling, and surgical procedure (mandatory)What we offer you continuous education and training work-life balance flexible working hours & time off in lieu 30 days annual leave on-site health management service mobile work on-site nursery elder care company pension scheme discounted public transport ticket Munich, with its numerous lakes and its vicinity to the Alps, is considered to be one of the cities with the best quality of life worldwide.
