OFFER DESCRIPTION

The PhD programme in Architecture combines the specificity of the architectural research as architectural composition, urban planning, history, aesthetics, design, restoration, technology and industrial design, combining basic research and applied research in an interdisciplinary perspective. The research will be developed according to subject areas that, given the nature of the PhD programme, it is aimed primarily at graduates in architecture and construction engineering-architecture and graduates who need to develop specific studies in the field of Architecture according to the different disciplinary joints which characterise it, despite coming from other graduating classes. The PhD programme in Architecture is characterised by the following research areas: Architectural composition; Urban Design; Construction Technologies; Advanced Design; Restoration and Preservation; Humanities and Technology for Cultural Heritage; History of architecture; Aesthetics of design and architecture.

More Information

Benefits

The yearly gross amount of the scholarships is € 15.343,28. Social-security contributions are deducted monthly from the gross scholarship by the University on behalf of the PhD candidates. Scholarships are paid to PhD candidates on a monthly basis, in arrears (payment is completed not earlier than the 25th day of the month).

  • REQUIRED LANGUAGES
    ENGLISH: Good

Skills/Qualifications

Applicants, regardless of age and citizenship status, can apply for the admission to the selection procedure if they have awarded at least one of the following degrees:

  1. Laurea Magistrale, Magistrale a ciclo unico or Laurea Specialistica (Master’s Degree);
  2. Laurea di Vecchio Ordinamento (pre-1999 reform);
  3. A Second Cycle Degree awarded by academic institutions part of AFAM (Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale);
  4. A non-Italian Second Cycle Degree (Master’s Degree or Single Cycle Degree) awarded by an academic institution equivalent to the above mentioned degrees (letters a, b, c).

Applicants who are yet to obtain their Second Cycle Degree are admitted to the selection procedure on condition that they obtain their degree by no later than October, 31st 2021.

Specific Requirements

- Multi-annual research proposal

- Abstract of the second cycle degree thesis

- No more than 3 reference letters

- Motivational letter

- List of the publications (i.e. monographs, articles on scientific journals), minor publications (conference papers, etc.), abstracts and posters presented during national and international conferences

- University Master courses (1st or 2nd level), Postgraduate vocational training programmes and/or specialisation programmes relevant to the PhD Programme

- Teaching and tutorship activity carried out at university level

- Research activity

- Work activities

- Language proficiency certificates

- Periods of study abroad, outside the country of origin (e.g. Erasmus programme or other similar mobility pogrammes)

- Other qualifications attesting the suitability of the applicant
