Spintronics devices involve ferromagnetic elements which are inherently non-volatile, but which still require high switching energies. In contrast, the polarization of ferroelectrics can be easily switched by an electric field, at energies typically 1000 times lower. We recently demonstrated in an article in Nature that, combined with high spin-orbit coupling elements, ferroelectrics also have a natural potential to generate a strong Rashba effect, which could lead to electrically switchable spin-charge interconversion. and very effective. The objective is to study this ferroelectric control of charge-spin conversion in Rashba heterostructures, and to explore its potential applications.
-Development of ferroelectric spintronic memories
-Development of devices in a clean room environment
-Electrical characterization of devices
Work within the framework of an ANR on effects linked to ferroelectricity in spin electronics. The laboratory is carrying out a spin-off project on this theme. The post-doctoral fellow will have to participate in the support of two theses on this subject.
Positioned at the crossroads of science and technology, the Spintec laboratory (https://www.spintec.fr/) is one of the main spintronics research laboratories in the world, with around one hundred employees. From fundamental science to proof of concepts and technology transfer, Spintec's mission is broad, ranging from fundamental research in spintronics to bridging new concepts and innovation in companies. Located in Grenoble in the French Alps, it offers a lively place to conduct research.
