The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the Pancreas Cancer laboratory headed by Juan Iovanna. He/she will develop a project investigating the role of new mechanisms controlling cellular senescence, in particular secreted factors, and decipher their impacts on tumor initiation. Details of the project will be directly discussed with the candidates. He/she will work under the supervision of Juan Iovanna and Patricia Santofimia, in collaboration with other team members within the framework a French National Cancer Institute (INCA) supported project. The contract will be initially of one year and then renewable.

The postdoctoral fellow will be in charge of developing her/his project. He/she shall handle design, plan, perform and interpret various experiments. He/she should master the associated literature. He/she should be able to communicate his/her results in the lab and outside. He/she should be able to work independently as well as with other team members and collaborators pending of the project needs.
We are looking for a highly motivated and dynamic scientist. The applicant must hold or obtain soon a doctorate in the field of molecular and cellular biology with good knowledge in cancer. Experience in cell culture, particularly primary cells and/or 3D culture, manipulating gene expression as well as in classical cell and molecular biology techniques are required. Experience in using cancer mouse models will be a plus. Applicant should be first author of at least one publication and at least two other as a collaborator. Candidates must have a positive attitude as a team member and should be able to communicate (oral and written skills) in English.
Our laboratory is part of the Cancer Research Centre of Marseille (INSERM UMR1068, CNRS UMR 7258, Aix-Marseille University and Institut Paoli-Calmettes) located in Marseille, France (https://www.crcm-marseille.fr/equipes/equipes-de-recherche/juan-iovanna/). This center is affiliated to INSERM and CNRS French research agencies, and to Institut Paoli-Calmettes Hospital and University of Marseille. The successful applicant should start between June and July 2021. This is a full-time job. Applicant should hold or obtain soon a PhD in the field of Biology, ideally since less than 1 year. Salary will be according to the INSERM scale.
Our international laboratory is composed of about 40 people and we are working in a dynamic environment. The candidate will also benefit from the scientific environment (21 teams and more than 400 people dedicated to cancer research) and several technical platforms provided by the CRCM.
Constraints and risks
Work with normal/primary human cells and with mice.
