Job description:

Combine your scientific interest and technical skills in the field of electrical engineering to create new knowledge for the socially and scientifically relevant areas of information, energy and bioeconomy. We offer you all of this at the Central Institute of Engineering, Electronics and Analytics - Electronic Systems (ZEA-2) with modelling, designing and developing the most innovative system solutions for science and society.Our team is working on integrated circuits which combine analog and digital components from modern CMOS technologies. One research focus is the development of System-on-Chip solutions (SoCs) for scalable control and read-out of semiconductor qubits for Quantum Computing (QC). Besides the development of the System-on-chip circuit solutions there is ongoing research on the topic of automated calibration of qubits for an overall scalable system. Currently most of the calibration is done manually with time-consuming measurements, which is one limiting factor for real system scalability. The focus of the doctoral researches will be on of automated noise-tolerant calibration for the quantum processor and its implementation on system level.

Your Job:

Your tasks include in particular:

  • Investigation and analysis of operational parameters of multiple qubits
  • Modelling and development for an automated calibration
  • Simulation and optimization of the calibration system towards minimum iterations and best possible noise suppression
  • Collaboration in various interdisciplinary research projects
  • Self-driven development of solutions

Your Profile:

  • Scientific university degree (Master) or comparable degree in electrical engineering, physics or similar fields
  • First experience in systemmodelling
  • Basic knowledge in the field of integrated circuits desirable depending on the focus of the work
  • First experience with the development of analog CMOS circuits in Cadence or similar tools
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary and intercultural team
  • Good analytical view of problems and ability to master complex systems

The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 70% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60 % of a monthly salary as special payment („Christmas bonus“).
