A joint PhD supervision with research time shared between France and Israel

To support this research program from September 2021, we are looking for an outstanding and highly motivated candidate to pursue his/her PhD within our groups. The candidate must have a strong background in organic synthesis with excellent theoretical and experimental skills. We are looking for dedicated, curious, hard-working and autonomous candidates, who also should have good communication skills in English, a good team spirit and will take benefit from an international research environment. The thesis schedule will start with a 18-month research period in Israel followed by an additional 18-month research work in France including the PhD defense end of 2024. The student will be registered at Normandy University.

Project title:

Novel Approaches for Asymmetric Construction of Challenging Chiral Fluorinated Molecules

Project description:

The purpose of this joint project is to answer synthetically challenging issues for the asymmetric construction of several adjacent chiral centers featuring fluorinated motifs. To address the methodological deficit for such sophisticated stereodefined fluorinated acyclic systems, we plan to develop an arsenal of approaches involving new methodologies in organometallic chemistry, organofluorine chemistry and asymmetric synthesis.

Starting date: September 2021

Duration: 3 years (the PhD student will be registered at Normandy University)

Salary: ~1500 € net/month (+ travel expenses will be covered)
