OFFER DESCRIPTION
1 PhD position What is EDEM: EDEM is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie European Industrial Doctorate (EID) network; a joint research training and doctoral programme, funded by the EU and implemented by a partnership of high profile universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations that are located in 7 EU countries and 4 overseas. EDEM is the acronym of the project “Experimentally validated DNS and LES approaches for fuel injection, mixing and combustion of dual-fuel engines”. It starts in 2019/2020 and ends on 30th August 2023. The EDEM network is international (includes beneficiaries and partners from the EU, US, China, S.Korea and UAE), interdisciplinary (mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, fuels and combustion), intersectoral (includes academic and non-academic institutions) and innovative (addresses topics not studied before).
One of the 15 positions is open and offered at FAU: The working group is a leading research group in experimental mostly optical investigation of high pressure flows. The focus of the investigations in the project is on the investigation of injection, mixture formation, ignition and combustion processes, alternative fuels, and technical combustion in general as well as laser diagnostic procedures in engine combustion. The working group maintains close contact with the automotive and supplier industries in joint research and development programs. As a preferred partner of national and international research institutes and industrial companies, our aim is to contribute to the scientifically sound and sustainable development with top-quality results.
