PUBLIC COMPETITION FOR 24 MONTHS TYPE B FELLOWSHIP FOR COLLABORATION TO RESEARCH ACTIVITIES IN THE SCIENTIFIC AREA OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

The Fellowship implies carrying out the activities briefly mentioned below at Dipartimento di Bioscienze dell’Università degli Studi di Milano and under the supervision of Prof. Aureliano Bombarely within the research programme “Development of a Genomic Platform for Avocado Research”, of the activities mentioned below:

1. Development of a portable computational framework to host the avocado genomic data, from the genome sequence (FASTA) and its annotation (GFF) to diversity genomic (VCF), phenotypic (TXT and JPEG) and transcriptomic (TXT) data.

2. Incorporation of popular tools such as Blast and JBrowser to the previous framework as well as the development of new tools for the visualization and mining of the data according the community needs.

3. Analysis and curation of the data incorporated to the framework. The analysis may be related with the search of genetic factors contributing to the avocado resistance to Phytophtora cinnamomi and/or other topics such as the Persea genome evolution.
