Kyushu University is located in Fukuoka City, a modern, vibrant, and famously livable city sandwiched between the mountains and the sea in Japan's far-west.

With 12 faculties and 18 graduate schools, the university has more than 100 years of history as one of Japan's leading core comprehensive national universities. In 2018, the university completed the relocation of the new Ito Campus, transforming it into one of the largest university campuses in Japan with state-of-the-art facilities in an excellent research environment. Under the leadership of President Ishibashi, 27,000 students, faculty, and staff are united in their independent efforts to transform Kyushu University into a vibrant center of excellence in research and education capable of tackling the challenges that face our world now and in the future. With a large international student population, one in eight students is from abroad, and the university is quickly becoming more global as a world-class university.

Science Communicators are expected to effectively communicate the University's advanced research findings and initiatives to stakeholders in Japan and abroad, while actively incorporating new types of media, including websites and SNS, as well as communications that will emerge in the future. In addition to developing and maintaining relationships with domestic and international media while maintaining close internal communications, we are looking for new and flexible ideas that are not bound by conventional communication methods, from digital to print. We are looking for people with enthusiasm and purpose who will work with us to consider, and systematically implement, communication transformation based on the vision of Kyushu University.

[Job description (work / duties after recruitment, subject responsible for, etc.)]
Successful applicants will perform the following duties to strengthen the university's international public relations and communications strategy and enhance dissemination of articles related to humanities and social sciences.
(1) International communications and public relations
① Bolstering overseas public relations operations as well as assist in developing and updating international public relations strategies to strengthen university branding
② Building overseas networks with organizations and institutions that include universities, research institutes, and the media
③ Effective execution of proactive public relations activities based on the international public relations strategy established in ① above (including analysis, planning, and proposal)
④ Management and operation of the university's English-language website and social media presence to effectively publicize information on research findings

(2) Domestic communications and public relations
① Writing, proofreading, and editing articles in Japanese related to the humanities and social sciences and giving writing–related advice
② Building a domestic network with organizations and institutions that include universities, research institutes, and the media
③ Management and operation of the university's Japanese-language website and social media presence to effectively publicize information on research findings
④ Preparation of Japanese versions of other communications and public relations materials

8:30 - 17:15 (includes 60-minute break)

○Salary and Bonus
The annual salary will be determined within the scope of the salary rules for the highly-skilled professional staff of National University Corporation Kyushu University in accordance with candidate experience. One-twelfth of the annual salary will be paid on the 21st of every month.

Between 6-8 million yen yearly on the annual salary scheme
