OFFER DESCRIPTION

The Reykjavik University Sleep Institute is looking for a DevOps Engineer specialised in Machine Learning for the Horizon 2020 project Sleep Revolution, sponsored by the European Commission. The project is led by Reykjavik University (RU), in collaboration with 36 other partners in Europe and Australia. The research partners are academic, industry and health institutions. The work is highly inter-disciplinary with involvement at RU from four departments; Department of Engineering, Computer Sciences, Sport Science and Psychology.

The DevOps position will play a key role in the project that aims to change processing of sleep data and to improve analysis and treatment of obstuctive sleep apnea.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and support a secure scalable architecture for storing and handling access permissions to what will become in the course of the project one of the world´s largest collections of medical time series data on sleep apnea.
  • Create an automatic test bed for continuous evaluation of machine learning algorithms on this data, and provide support for our partners in using this platform.
  • There will be opportunities to perform research on suitable architectures for handling and processing medical data, as well as developing and analyzing suitable algorithms to process the data.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Ph.D. degree in engineering, computer science, or industrial experience at the same level.
  • Adapt in system administration on Windows and Linux platforms, proficient in Python, C++ and Matlab, and with experience setting up data pipelines, automated multiprocessing and deep learning environments.
  • Experience with the European EOSC framework and/or programming knowledge of CUDA would be an advantage.
  • Self-organised with a strong ability to work autonomously.
  • Flexible, result-oriented, willing to learn and to work in a dynamic environment with a diverse team.
  • Dynamic and communicative personality with high social competence.
  • Strong ability to communicate in English (oral and written) is essential.
  • Be located in Reykjavík, Iceland.
