Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia (UCAM) is accepting applications for the Research fellow position from all over the world to enable them to work in Spain and develop their research careers at our university.

Role overview and responsibilities:

You will also:

  • Collaborate with appropriate academic and industrial partners;
  • Publish research articles in leading academic journals;
  • Present findings at national and international meetings/conferences;
  • Raise research funds through grant applications, and manage own area of a larger research budget;
  • Take a formal or informal role (as required) in the supervision of students;
  • Deliver a few classes to the international students.

  • Job Location: Murcia (Spain). Our campus is located in the beautiful Jerónimos Monastery (National Monument) in the region where Mediterranean weather with mild temperatures and long hours of sunlight adds to the quality of life;
  • Number of available positions: 5;
  • Start date: mutually agreed date;
  • Contract duration: 1 year (contract extension every 12 months up to 5 years) but we are looking forward to starting a long term cooperation after this period;
  • Weekly hours: 37,5 h (full time);
  • Salary: 25.394,10€ (gross) per annum;
  • Holidays: 31 calendar days + 2 additional periods on Christmas and Eastern;

Selection process

  1. Certified personal academic documents, which includes the weighted average mark of the transcript and a copy of the PhD diploma.
  2. Summary of scientific production indicators.
  3. Updated curriculum vitae of the applicant. In the section dedicated to publications, the aspects that are considered as most important for assessment of their quality should be indicated for each included publication (e.g., the journal's impact index, the relative position of the journal in the listings of the corresponding fields, citations received, or other impact indicators).
  4. Description of the proposed line of research to be developed at UCAM with regard to which the researcher shows to be competent. *
  5. Scientific-technical report of the research project that aims at developing in the field of the proposed line and work plan to be followed by the hired person during the first 3 years. Such report will be submitted and assessed in the internal call of the research

Skills/Qualifications

Basic selection criteria:

  • A PhD degree;
  • Evidence of the research activity in min. 2 projects funded through competitive national or international calls;
  • Postdoctoral research outside of Spain (min 2 years);
  • Evidence of publications of at least 10 journal articles indexed in JCR (min. 5 -Q1);
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently;
  • Leadership skills;
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills;
  • Respect to the university values based on Catholic Church teachings.
