OFFER DESCRIPTION

The aim of the research is to shed light on two very important topics, until now relatively little considered by scholars. The first is the land base of the Princes of Capua - Benevento in the north-eastern sector of the Principality, that is the area most covered by the Cassinese documentation, containing a large number of cards still unpublished for the X-XII century. The second theme, closely related to the first, is the genesis of the heritage of Montecassino and, in
particular, of its main nucleus, the Terra Sancti Benedicti. The role of the principles in its constitution, between the end of the 9th and 10th centuries, was certainly relevant, but remains largely to be defined. After a systematic census of useful testimonies in unpublished Cassinese documentation, the research will aim to reconstruct the consistency and location of the princely goods in the area examined and their role in the formation of the Cassinese heritage
