OFFER DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be integrated in a project in multilingual text simplification and will implement machine learning techniques in the area of automatic text simplification, produce software libraries, and full technology demonstrators. The candidate will assist the principal investigator and research team in the following activities:

(i) implementation of text readability measures based on available research

(ii) carry out data acquisition/management for the project

(iii) implementation/adaptation of software pipelines for text analysis

(iv) fine-tune of existing simplification software and baselines

(v) implement novel machine learning techniques for text simplification

(vi) implement and carry out evaluation.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in the development text simplification systems, knowledge of machine learning and statistical techniques in natural language processing, and experience (or willing to acquire experience) in current neural networks/sequence to sequence models for natural language processing. Knowledge of programming languages such as Java and Python will be appreciated. Experience in carrying out sound evaluation or participation in evaluation programs is also considered an asset. Good knowledge of English and Spanish is required. Excellent communication skills are greatly appreciated.

We offer a 12-month part time contract with extension (12 more months). The initial salary is €1,300.46 a month before taxes (22,5hs per week or 0.6 FTE). Social security and vacations are included. You will have the possibility of tele-working part of your working hours. You will be part of the TALN research group, one of the best known natural language processing groups in Spain.
