OFFER DESCRIPTION

The project aims at retrieving all possible information about Afghan Buddhist art from fragments and residual archaeological traces, often neglected and yet essential to the hypothetical reconstruction of decorative installations that, once magnificent, are poorly preserved because of the fragility of the materials. The research shall be mainly based on the documentation owned by the Italian Archaeological Mission in Afghanistan, but it is expected to create useful models and comparisons for less documented sites and materials, thus enlarging our knowledge of the latter, at the same time fostering, through pragmatic case studies, more appropriate excavation and documentation procedures
