Postdoctoral position in RNA biology and immune cell development
An exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Fellow is available within the RNA and Stem Cell Biology group of Dr. Cristian Bellodi at the Division of Molecular Hematology of the Lund Stem Cell Center, Lund University, Sweden. Our laboratory focuses on new post-transcriptional facets of gene expression control in stem and cancer cell at a molecular, cellular and organismal level. We recently uncovered a critical function for RNA modifications in embryonic and hematopoietic stem cells (Guzzi et al., Cell 2018) and new research opportunities are available in the lab. The successful candidate will work on specific projects aimed at dissecting the role of RNA modifying enzymes during normal and malignant immune cell development. He/she will have access to unique genetic models and wide arrays of biochemical and high-throughput sequencing (HTS) methods including ribosome profiling, iCLIP-seq and single cell-seq. Candidates should be interested in the clinical application of basic research for the development of novel therapeutic strategies to treat hematological cancers.
Our laboratory provides a vibrant and international research environment consisting of postdocs, technical staff, PhD and master students with common interests in RNA and stem cell biology. Our group is part of the Division of Molecular Hematology embedded within the Lund Stem Cell Center (LSCC), an internationally ranked research center within the strategic areas of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at Lund University, Scandinavia’s largest institution for education and research.
Essential Skills and Requirements
We are looking for highly motivated basic and clinical researchers with a recent PhD (preferably less than 3 years) and proof of productive research. Candidates should have significant experience with mouse work (handling, breeding, surgery, dissection, transplantation), advanced flow cytometry and molecular biology. A background in mammalian hematopoiesis, immunology and stem cell biology is highly preferred. Applicants are expected to work independently as well as collaborate within a team. Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
