Participation in teaching (master's degree) and in the dissemination of knowledge to the general public is possible.

The appointed researcher will study brain morphology and growth in Neandertals in the framework of the NEANBRAIN project (for more information see: https://www.dim-map.fr/projets-soutenus/neanbrain/). High-resolution numerical data of Neandertal crania as well as complementary MRI data from current humans will be available to study the correlation between the shape of the brain and the endocranium.

The appointed researcher will be based at the Musée de l'Homme. Teleworking will be possible. Antoine Balzeau and Aurélien Mounier will supervise the appointed researcher in their respective fields of expertise (palaeoneurology, imaging, Neandertal morphology, reconstruction and modelling). Catherine Schwab, from MAN, will contribute towards issues related to heritage preservation.

Publication track record according to the applicant's career stage. Experience in teamwork.

Additional comments

We are looking for a researcher in palaeoanthropology for a one-year fixed-term contract on the project 'Brain Growth in Neandertal: A Comparative Study of Childhood to Adult Brain Anatomy in Neandertal and Homo sapiens' (for more information see: https://www.dim-map.fr/projets-soutenus/neanbrain/).
