Career-FIT PLUS aims to enhance the training and mobility of Experienced Researchers through the undertaking of individually-driven, market-focused research projects which will be centered around the domain areas of the designated Technology Centres (https://enterprise-ireland.com/en/research-innovation/companies/collaborate-with-companies-research-institutes/technology-centres.html) and Technology Gateways (www.technologygateway.ie).
Two calls for proposals will award a total of 50 Fellowships to highly skilled researchers to conduct a research project of 36 months in Ireland, including a secondment opportunity in an enterprise partner of the Technology Centre/Gateway.
The Career-FIT PLUS Fellows will have the unique opportunity to carry out research in areas of clear industry focus and gain first-hand experience in a company.
Researchers awarded a Fellowship will be hosted and employed by a Third Level Institution associated with a Technology Centre/Gateway in Ireland.
Fellows will be guided by an experienced Academic mentor as well as a Company mentor who are concerned not just for their scientific progress but also their training and development in line with the agreed career goals. They will further benefit from participation in a structured development training programme that targets enhancement of personal effectiveness as well as competencies relating to innovation management.

All Career-FIT PLUS applicants must fulfill the criteria for one of the following two experienced researcher types:
Experienced researcher type 1: has been awarded their doctoral degree before the deadline of the Career-FIT PLUS call;
Experienced researcher type 2:
- does not hold a doctoral degree, but holds a master’s degree or an undergraduate degree such as a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, enabling him/her to embark on a doctorate in Ireland or the country in which the qualification was obtained; AND
- before the Career-FIT PLUS call deadline, has completed at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience following the qualification which would enable her/him to embark on a doctorate in Ireland or the country in which the qualification was obtained.
Eligible applicants are those of any nationality or residency who have not been (resided or carried out their main activity) in Ireland for more than twelve months in the three years prior to the Career-FIT PLUS call deadline.
For refugees under the Geneva Convention, the duration of the refugee procedure will not be counted as a period of residence in Ireland
