Working area: "Digital Phonetics - Speech Science".
Electrical Engineering contributed groundbreaking innovations in analog and digital communication of spoken and written language starting from the 19th century and resulting in a strong integration of electronic and information engineering with phonetics and speech science by the end of the 20th century. Currently, these developments are culminating in the digital transformation of the 21st century which seizes all areas of society, including the humanities, science, and engineering. "Digital Phonetics" uses digital technology to widen the scope of (natural science oriented) research into human speech, based on comprehensive data sets from lifelike scenarios, and delivers knowledge for the design of conversational systems.
The position is initially restricted to six years as a University Assistant with Doctorate.
Upon agreement on a qualification agreement, the candidate will be appointed as assistant professor. As soon as the qualification agreement has been fulfilled, the position will be converted into a tenured position as associate professor.
The position will be paid according to category B1 of the collective agreement for employees of Austrian universities, stipulating a gross salary of € 4.309,30 (14 x per year).

The position will be paid according to category B1 of the collective agreement for employees of Austrian universities, stipulating an initial gross salary of EUR 4,309.30 (before taxes, 14 x per year). 25 paid vacation days per year. - Very good visibility in the scientific community, ideally through organisation of workshops and scientific events as well as reviewing/editing actitivities
- Experience with national and international research cooperations
-Experience in the application and implementation of highly competitive research funding projects and the willingness to independently acquire and manage research projects
- Experience in independent teaching of lecure courses, practicals, seminars and lab couses including the related exams
- Experience in the supervision of bachelor projects and master's theses
- Experience in co-advising PhD students
- Administrative skills
- Experience with university committees
- Readiness to work towards a 'venia docendi' (habilitation degree) so as to represent the academic field in an independent capacity as an associate professor
- Excellent command of the English language, written and spoken, so as to effectively represent and communicate the subject matter in an international context both in the classroom and in the research field. If the applicant does not yet have sufficient knowledge of the German language, she must be willing to pursue and acquire said language skills
