OFFER DESCRIPTION

The candidate will join the project, AKS-2020-INC-2230010, “East and West in Korean Studies” as a researcher, a project that is supported by the Academy of Korean Studies for three years. He or she will be in charge of a research on cultural exchanges between Korea and the West in the form of cultural artifacts such as arts and/or (in)tangible forms. Thus, the candidate will deal with historical encounters between Korea and the West in the cultural formats. The candidate will have to verify his or her research results on pre-modern Korean exchange with the West in cultural areas, within or after the project period. In collaboration with the project director, furthermore, the candidate must also prepare a publication of an edited volume on a cultural exchange between Korea and the West in premodern or modern period. The researcher will use various research methodologies such as analysis of paintings, cultural heritage, and historical materials
