OFFER DESCRIPTION

- develop experimental protocols to date low-carbon materials by carbon 14
- produce CO2 from micro-samples to inject directly into the ion source of the accelerator mass spectrometer
- check the robustness of the procedure on well-knon samples and date samples associated with the following issues:
1) Archaeological ferrous objects dating, in collaboration with the Archaeomaterial Laboratory and Alteration Prediction (LAPA/CEA-CNRS),
2) Dating of stucco from museum collections in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Restoration of the Museums of France (C2RMF/ Chemistry ParisTech, PSL Research University, CNRS, Institute for Research of Chemistry Paris (IRCP)) and the Louvre Museum,
3) Dating carbonated pigments from paints
- interact with the partners of the Micro-C14 project

The postdoctoral fellow will be tasked with implementing experimental protocols to date micro-samples of materials from Cultural Heritage objects using the carbon 14 method. The aim is to extend the scope of 14C dating to materials that until now have been little or not dated.

The post-doctoral fellowship will take place at the Laboratory for Carbon 14 Measurement (LMC14, http://lmc14.lsce.ipsl.fr/), which has been attached to the Laboratory of Climate and Environmental Sciences (LSCE) since 2015 (www.lsce.ipsl.fr)
The LMC14 has been carrying out carbon 14 measurements for the national scientific community since 2003 (equivalent to NationalLaboratory). It is located at the CEA site in Saclay and St Aubin. It is funded by the CNRS, the CEA, the IRSN, the IRD and the Ministry of Culture.
The post-doctoral fellowship is partially funded by The Domaine d'intérêt majeur (DIM) Heritage and ancient materials (Île-de-France research network).
