The applicant should study animal genetics and genomics, aiming in particular at the characterization of the biodiversity, of the post-domestication history and of the molecular mechanisms underlying environmental adaptation in livestock. The activities will focus, in particular, on ruminants (cattle, sheep, goats and buffaloes). The applicant should prove to possess an in-depth knowledge of the methods of analysis of several thousand SNP markers, and of complete mitochondrial and nuclear genome sequences. It is expected the ability of extracting and analyzing ancient DNA from archeological remains, a strong background in population genetics and biostatistics, experience in the use of software for the analysis of genomic data, and the participation in national and international research projects on livestock diversity, genomics and adaptation. The applicant should also demonstrate a good and continuous scientific production in terms of peer reviewed articles published on international high-ranking journals, an involvement in international collaborations, and a large experience in promoting and coordinating research activities at the national and international level.
Teaching activities will be carried out in italian and english languages, and will focus on animal breeding, genetics and genomics.
