OFFER DESCRIPTION
The Post-doctoral Researcher will join the urbisphere team and will exploit Earth Observation data for cities worldwide using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) techniques towards achieving the coupling of dynamic cities and climate. In the context of the project, the main tasks assigned to the candidate are:
Satellite data processing and analysis.
Development of AI and ML methods for biophysical parameters estimation from satellite imagery.
Application of AI and ML methods for global time series analysis.
Publishing of scientific articles.

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVELEnvironmental science: PhD or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications
A Ph.D. in closely relevant field, e.g. AI and/or ML for satellite urban remote sensing.
A University Degree in scientific disciplines that are related to EO and urban remote sensing, e.g. engineering, physics, computer science, space science, data science, or equivalent.
Proven experience (participation in projects, publications) in satellite image processing and analysis.
Proven experience (participation in projects, publications) with respect of the use of AI and ML techniques for satellite Earth Observation applications.
Proven experience (participation in projects, publications) with respect to the analysis of satellite imagery for retrieval of urban environmental parameters and time series analysis.
Proven experience (participation in projects, publications) of interactions and networking within the research and user communities, at national and international levels.
Proven programming experience (developed applications) with cloud computing resources for Earth Observation, e.g. Copernicus Data and Information Access Services (DIAS), Google Earth Engine.
Proficiency in using remote sensing and GIS software.
Excellent command in spoken and written English.
Good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work autonomously, effectively and cooperatively in a diverse and international team environment and to define and implement solutions in line with team and individual objectives and project deadlines.
Good analytical, organisational and reporting skills.
Specific Requirements
A Masters Degree in relevant disciplines.
Experience (participation in projects, publications) with respect of the use of multi-spectral, multi-temporal and multi-scale satellite data fusion.
Experience in statistical analysis of spatial data and products.
Programming experience for combining satellite observations with in-situ measurements.
