OFFER DESCRIPTION

The Institute of Materials Science of Mulhouse gathers about 150 people whose 50 permanent researchers with skills in chemistry, physics and biology. The team Biointerfaces and Biomaterials headed by the Dr. Karine Anselme is a pluridisciplinary team associating chemists and biologists that comprises today 4 permanent researchers, 2 engineers and 2 PhD students. Mulhouse is in the typical Alsace region at the border with Germany (Freiburg im Breisgau) and Switzerland (Basel). It has a direct access to Paris (less than 3 hours by TGV) and to an international airport (Euroairport, 20km).

The OPENN project (cOnception of bioresorbable self-rolled Patchs for the local trEatment of inflammatioN induced in the coloN after irradiation) is a research project aiming to develop an innovative medical device dedicated to the colon. This new medical device will be designed with self-rolling bilayer polymer films loaded with anti-inflammatory drugs or mesenchymal stem cells.
This project also associates specialists of degradable polymers for health applications (Pr B. Nottelet, Institut des Biomolecules Max Mousseron, Montpellier, France) and experts on clinical consequences of radiotherapy protocols and research of effective treatments using small and large animal models (Dr N. Mathieu, The French Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety, Fontenay aux Roses, France).
The successful candidate will be responsible for the self-rolling and unrolling of tubes containing anti-inflammatory drugs (AI) or mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), the in vitro study of AI molecules release and the verification of the MSC survival and function inside cellularized tubes.
We are seeking strongly motivated candidates with experience in biomaterials and tissue engineering. The desired candidate should have a background in cell biology (culture of MSCs, qPCR, confocal microscopy) and biochemistry (HPLC, Western blot, ELISA).
