OFFER DESCRIPTION

In the context of the BMBWF project "Digital Transformation of the Austrian Humanities" a doctoral position (Prädoc, 30h/week) is to be filled for a period of 3 years. The applicant should pursue a doctoral project in the humanities which is being realized in the context of CIMA (The Centre of Image and Material Analysis in Cultural Heritage). Projects are welcome which make the technical possibilities of the CIMA fruitful in the sense of Digital Humanities, especially the use of multispectral and/or hyperspectral imaging, but also other technical procedures of imaging and material analysis, which are documented on the CIMA homepage (https://cima.or.at/services/). The project results are to be integrated into the emerging archiving and documentation concept of the CIMA, whereby image recognition procedures (analogous to "Google Lens") are also to be supported. Manuscripts in particular are proven to be objects of research, but other artefacts are also conceivable. The doctoral project is intended to further expand the scientifically innovative cooperation in research and teaching between cultural studies, natural sciences, information technology and cultural heritage conservation that CIMA is striving for. Active participation in CIMA is therefore expected, as is the assumption of a course in the Master's program 'Digital Humanities'.
