The researcher will join an Applied Mathematics research group at the School of Aerospace Engineering working on the numerical modelling of electrochemical systems. Work to be carried out by the researcher will be in the framework of the European H2020 project DEFACTO (see https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/875247 and https://defacto-project.eu/ for some details concerning the project).

In particular, the researcher will be involved in the development of a time-adaptive reduced order model based on a detailed multi-physics numerical model (to be carried out by another partner in the project DEFACTO consortium). In addition, the researcher will work on the extension of the previous tool to obtain a parameter- and time-adaptive reduced order model to be integrated in an efficient electrochemical cell optimization software.

The researcher will not only integrate a highly motivated team at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid but also be part of the multidisciplinary DEFACTO project consortium (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/875247), including leading European research institutions in the field.

Salary will be determined according to candidate's CV and salary scales approved by Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Gross yearly salary is expected to be around 25,000 euros.

Skills/Qualifications

Candidates should hold a Master in Engineering, Industrial Mathematics or Applied Mathematics (with a clear Engineering focus) with excellent academic credentials.

Required skills include:

  • Ability to solve complex problems under strict deadlines.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work efficiently in inter-disciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) in English.

Specific Requirements

A solid knowledge of numerical simulation in Engineering, covering mathematical modelling, numerical methods and programming .

Candidates should have over a year experience in numerical simulation in industrial problems.

Experience in modelling of electrochemical systems is not required but will be a valuable asset.
