The Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart System and Emerging Technologies – RISE (www.rise.org.cy) is a newly founded research centre of excellence in Nicosia, Cyprus. RISE is a significant investment supported by the European Commission, the Republic of Cyprus and its founding Partners, the Municipality of Nicosia, Max Planck Institute, University College London, the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology and the Open University of Cyprus.
The research focus of RISE is on interactive media and it conducts excellent, internationally competitive scientific research in the areas of visual sciences, human factors and design, communication, and artificial intelligence in a tight synergy that provides an unique interdisciplinary research perspective emphasising an “Inspired by Humans, Designed for Humans” philosophy. RISE engages in knowledge transfer and innovation activities aiming to bridge the gap between scientific research and STEM-led innovation and entrepreneurship. RISE is designed to act as an integrator of academic research and industrial innovation, towards the sustainable fuelling of the scientific, technological, and economic growth of Cyprus and Europe.
RISE Year-Round Internship Program
RISE Center of Excellence is pleased to announce its Year-round Internship Program for undergraduate- and graduate-level students and early career individuals. Designed to act as an integrator of academic research and industrial innovation, RISE will use its Internship Program to inspire talented young researchers by exposing them to cutting-edge methods and Research in Interactive media, Smart systems and Emerging technologies – RISE.
Interns will have the opportunity to carry out research as part of one of the Center’s Multidisciplinary Research Groups (MRGs). They will be introduced to the use of the latest methods and techniques in a chosen field or fields, in the center of Nicosia, and will become part of RISE’s lively ecosystem of academics, researchers, creative and onward-looking people, innovators, entrepreneurs and practitioners.
Applicants must be able to work in RISE’s premises in Nicosia and must be either:
- Undergraduate students (BA, BSc)
- Post-Graduate students (MA, MSc and PhD)
- Early career individuals (who have graduated from university within the last year)
- For non-EU applicants an entry visa and/or work permit may be required

- Interns must be able to work in RISE's premises in Nicosia
- Year-Round internship slots are offered for full-time and/or part-time engagement

- Interns will be expected to give an open presentation of their work and findings before the end of their time with RISE
