PhD student Spatial Statistics
As doctoral researchers, you prepare a PhD in the domain of biostatistics within the Data Science Institute of Hasselt University (www.uhasselt.be/dsi). You will work within the Center for Statistics, the UHasselt entity of I-Biostat (www.ibiostat.be). The PhD research project will take place in collaboration with the University of Antwerp.
In this PhD project, you will investigate and develop methods for the analysis of spatial point pattern data to investigate heterogeneity in a spatial micro-environment at the cell level and clustering of disease cases in a macro-environment.
- You obtained a master degree in biostatistics, applied statistics, Bioinformatics or statistical bioinformatics. (or equivalent)
Final-year students are (likewise) encouraged to apply.
- You have proven strong knowledge in statistics.
- You have strong research interest in statistics.
- Knowledge of methods in spatial statistics is a plus.
- You are cooperative and can work well in teams.
- You are fluent in written and oral communication in English.
