The Faculty of Humanities and Theology comprises the Departments of

Catholic Theology and Protestant Theology as well as a joint Department of Philosophy and Political Science. There is an interdisciplinary focus on teaching and research in the field of “Religion and Politics” with special emphasis on philosophical references.

The Faculty of Humanities and Theology at TU Dortmund University is seeking to fill the position of a

Professor (W3) in “Catholic Theology with special emphasis on Systematic Theology”

commencing as soon as possible. The successful candidate will represent the entire field of Systematic Theology in research and teaching.

TU Dortmund is seeking an outstanding personality with an excellent doctorate and habilitation (or comparable) in Catholic Theology. Candidates should hold excellent qualifications in the field of Systematic Theology with a focus on dogmatics or fundamental theology evidenced by national and international publications in recognised organs, including peer-reviewed journals, as well as national and/or international collaborations.

A research focus on “religion in social and political contexts” as well as teaching experience at school level is desirable.

Applicants should complement the research activities of the Faculty and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborative research projects within and outside TU Dortmund University. Experience in third-party fundraising is expected.

An appropriate contribution to the faculty’s curriculum, e.g. in the Master’s program “Religion and Politics”, is expected – in the long term also in German language.

The successful candidate will possess social and leadership skills and be willing to be involved in academic self-governance.

The recruitment requirements are based on §§ 36 and 37 HG NRW (state law governing universities in North-Rhine Westphalia).
