We offer an exciting position at the Universitat de Barcelona for a 30 months multidisciplinary project that involves a larger number of partners (companies and universities) in Catalonia. She/heIt is expected to develop dynamical and non-dynamical data driven models to better understand human behaviour patterns in TV contents consumption (PICAE). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to explore novel computational methodologies under the frame of complex systems science and will allow to signify behavioural differences in many senses. Deep learning, machine learning, and Artificial Intelligence tools will be highly welcomed to not only experiment and explore new group and community analysis but also to better know the behavioural patterns at an individual level. The job offer will allow the candidate to publish in highest impact journals thanks to unique and highly valuable datasets. The candidate can be an early career Postdoc researcher or a PhD candidate focusing on this subject in his/her PhD.

We are seeking a candidate with at least a Msc degree (or equivalent) in an area pertinent to the project, such as physics, applied mathematics, advanced statistics, machine learning, or data science. The candidate shall demonstrate strong skills in mathematical and computational techniques. The candidate must have excellent teamwork and communication skills, and be enthusiastic about his/her research. We are looking for highly motivated and proactive candidates capable of being adaptive to changing environments. Responsibilities also include the delivery of technical reports as well as interaction with a wide diversity of partners. For this reason, the candidate must also show interest to work with very different communities such as new media companies. Female applicants are explicitly encouraged to apply. The research will be carried within the OpenSystems Group and the Universitat de Barcelona Institute of Complex Systems at the Departament de Física in close collaboration with DataScience@UB research group at the Departament de Matemàtiques i Informàtica. Picae: Ris3Cat funded Data Science project working on Intelligent Publication of Media and Editorial Contents. The UB role will be based on providing new User’s Profile and new TV Contents archive Indexing.

Gross salary: 29.000 euros approx.

Eligibility criteria

MSc or equivalent in physics, computing, mathematics, statistics, applied mathematics, or equivalent. Proficiency in Python Programming, some knowledge on behavioural sciences, computational social science and/or complex systems science. Interest or previous experience in citizen science will be positively evaluated. Excellent teamwork and communication skills. Fluent Spanish will be expected, high level of spoken/written English will be expected. and Catalan will be positively considered.

 

Selection process

First selection based on CV and a letter of interest. Interview by a panel of academics from the University of Barcelona (via telco or in person)
