This is a joint thesis, half of the work will be conducted in University of Bucharest, Romania (co-director Prof. Vasile Parvulescu), half in LCC laboratory, France (co-directors Prof. Jérôme Durand and Prof. Karine Philippot). A secondment period is scheduled with an industrial organization (Tecnalia).
Development of supported catalysts for continuous flow asymmetric hydrogenation.
Develop new supported catalysts for continuous flow asymmetric hydrogenation by immobilizing chiral catalysts (metallic complexes and nanoparticles) on the surface of nanostructured carbon materials (carbon nanotubes and/or graphene). An innovative aspect with the supported nanoparticles will be to take advantage of the strong effect of carbonaceous supports in the activation of hydrogen and of the specific metal-single layer graphene interaction.

To be eligible for recruitment within an ITN project, you therefore must – at the date of recruitment – be within the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of your research career and not have a doctoral degree. Full-time equivalent research experience is measured from the date when you obtained the degree entitling you to embark on a doctorate (either in the country in which the degree was obtained, or in the country in which you are recruited), even if a doctorate was never started or envisaged. You may therefore be required to provide documentation proving your eligibility for recruitment.
