The Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Saint-Étienne (Mines Saint-Etienne), Ecole de l'Institut Mines Télécom, under the supervision of the French Ministère de l'Économie et des Finances, is responsible for training, research and innovation missions, transfer to industry and scientific, technical and industrial culture. Mines Saint-Etienne represents: 1,800 engineering students and researchers in training, 420 staff, a consolidated budget of €50 million, two campuses (one in Saint-Étienne (Loire) with three sites, one in Gardanne (Bouches-du-Rhône), 5 training and research centres, 7 research laboratories, a centre for scientific, technical and industrial culture (“La Rotonde”) and development projects in France and abroad. ARMINES, the first contract research association in France, set up in 1967 at the initiative of the Ecole des Mines de Paris, aims at industry-oriented research and training through research. As such, it is the preferred partner of the Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne. The Centre Microélectronique de Provence (CMP) is a joint research centre of MINES Saint-Etienne/ARMINES. The CMP is located in Gardanne (Bouches-du-Rhône region), its mission is to develop new microelectronic technologies for various fields of application of IoT (materials, health, cybersecurity and industrial engineering) each of them is carried by a specific research department. The CMP has several research laboratories and a clean room facility. The CMP carries out numerous contractual research projects with main global and local industrial actors. As part of the European research project "BORGES" ("Biosensing with Organic Electronics"), ARMINES is recruiting an Early-Stage Researcher (PhD student) for the CMP in Gardanne. The candidate will work on the development of a portable multimodal sensing platform based on organic electronics including electrophysiological and chemical sensors. The main goal of the research project is to develop a methodology for manufacturing and integrating advanced organic electronic detection devices for wearable applications and collection of data about people health.
Mobility and career requirement: This recruitment is part of the specific regulation of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action European Training Network. In accordance with the selection procedure provided in the Grant Agreement No. 813863 - Horizon 2020-MSCA-ITN-2018 BORGES “Biosensing with Organic Electronics”, only the candidates are eligible:
- who have not resided or pursued their main activity (work, studies, etc.) in France for more than 12 months during the 3 years immediately preceding the date of recruitment;
- who are still in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research career and do not have a doctoral degree.
Profile: Holders of a Master’s degree in Materials Science, Biomedical systems, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics, Nanotechnology and Biotechnology. An experience in preparation and characterization of thin polymer layers, chemical and physical characterization of thin surfaces, and electrical characterization of organic materials and devices are highly suitable. Experience in programming and data treatment using MATLAB, LabVIEW is a plus.
The candidate will be integrated into an interdisciplinary and international group working on organic electronic materials and devices. A very good level of English (oral and written) is required.
Condition of recruitment: Research Training Contract (CFR) duration will be established from the date of the recruitment of the candidate (approximately April 2020) until the end of the Borges project (31.12.2022) / Full-time position. The position is based in Gardanne, located near Marseille and Aix en Provence cities (Bouches-du-Rhône, FR).
