The Mondor Research Institute (IMRB, Inserm U955 – University Paris Est Créteil, UPEC) is one of the leading biomedical research centers in eastern Paris region with a national and international reputation. The IMRB has recently been successfully evaluated by the French Agency for Evaluation of Research (AERES) and recreated for 5 years beginning January 2020. It comprises 500 persons belonging to 14 research teams, and an administrative platform in charge of management of the Institute, logistic support for the teams and technology platforms. Impact of environmental aggression and air pollution on health is one of the main research focus area of IMRB. Several IMRB teams develop a translational program in respiratory medicine, particularly COPD and emphysema.
LISA (Laboratoire Interuniversitaire des Systèmes Atmosphériques), UMR CNRS 7583 is a mixed research laboratory between Paris-Est Créteil University (UPEC), Université de Paris (UP) and CNRS. It is a component of the Observatory of Sciences of the Universe EFLUVE and of Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL), a Federation of 6 research laboratories working on environment and climate in the Paris region. The main research themes in LISA relate to the understanding of the functioning of terrestrial and planetary atmospheres and of the impacts related to the changes of the atmospheric composition due to human activities. The methods used are based on direct observations in the atmosphere, on experimental simulations performed in the laboratory and on various numerical modeling approaches. LISA developed an innovative platform for exposing mice to realistic atmospheric conditions using an atmospheric simulation chamber (www.cesam.cnrs.fr).
Job/ research description: The project will explore how urban pollution compared to peri-urban environments, affects alveolar progenitor cells microenvironment and alters their capacity to proliferate, differentiate and induce alveolar growth or regeneration.

REQUIRED EDUCATION LEVELMedical sciences: PhD or equivalent
REQUIRED LANGUAGESFRENCH: BasicENGLISH: Good
a PhD degree in (Medical) Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Medicine, Biomedical Engineering, Life Science and Technology, or a related area
• experience with stem cell biology, primary cells culture and 3D organoid cultures is the main requirement, in the lung or other organs
• demonstrable (publications) experience in pulmonary cell biology is desirable
• good knowledge of written and spoken English
• enthusiasm for biomedical and pharmaceutical research in an interdisciplinary setting
