Over the course of years, CSC has followed closely the technology development and has catalyzed the uptake of new technologies for the benefit of Finnish higher education institutions and research community. We have spearheaded e.g. Internet in the 80's, parallel computing in the 90's and GPU computing in the 00's. One such emerging and potentially disruptive field of technology is quantum information technology, i.e. quantum computing and quantum communication. We are now looking for a Technology Strategist to be our leading expert in the field of quantum ICT and to lead our development program for quantum technologies. The first steps of this program is to install the "Quantum Learning Machine" quantum programming environment by Atos as a service opened our users next year. The Technology Strategist will collaborate closely with our partners in industry and academia, as well as our own domain experts. In addition, the Technology Strategist is expected to follow closely the development of quantum computing and quantum communication, distilling and disseminating the information for our own strategy work and management.

The strategist will be responsible in progressing e.g. the following themes at CSC:

  • User program of the Quantum Learning Machine
  • New development projects towards installation of a large-scale quantum computer
  • Finding new funding opportunities and preparing funding applications
  • Technology watch and dissemination
  • Network building and collaboration with the industrial and academic stakeholders.

The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in an applicable field and solid research background in quantum physics and/or quantum technology. The key competences are thematic know-how in quantum physics, quantum computing and quantum algorithms, as well as capabilities and skills for handling complex projects. We expect a candidate to have a proven track record in project management. Project management training and certifications are an asset.
